As most of you read astrology blogs, it is no news to you that on August 1, we have A Solar Eclipse. A Solar Eclipse is like a New Moon, sun and moon in the same sign. Because this eclipse is in Leo, I suspect there will be a fair share of drama to those who experience it on their chart.
Solar Eclipses are different in many ways from Lunar. I was told by a wise astrologer who taught me astrology that one needs to eat a lot of sun grown foods the day before and the day of the eclipse. Think oranges.. Energy is often an issue as one could feel depleted. if that is the case, don't push. The above comments are applicable to anyone in a Solar Eclipse.
Now the big issue: will it effect you, how, where, when , why? Eclipses are Uranian in nature, that means unpredictable, so you probably need an astrologer who is someone what psychic to determine the above questions. But again it is unpredictable, so what we expect probably will not happen.
In my experience you have to have a direct hit within 1 to 2 degress. This eclipse is at 9 Leo, thus planets between 7-11 Leo or Aquarius will need to be studies to determine the area of impact. Why Aquarius? Eclipses are about New Moons and Full Moons, oppositions and conjunctions. Thus the planets in opposite degrees(here the Aquarian ones) can feel impact.
Timing: Within a month, ytou will know what has triggered. You might think that you know the whole story. You do not. The 3 months and 6 months marker from the eclipse will reveal much more. Not until the year mark can you be sure, the story is complete.
So enjoy the power of an eclipse. You do not need to run in fear like primitive man did when one of these events occurred. You are wise. Remember? Welcome the change it could bring. The one thing we can count on in life is change. Honor the changes, and eclipses usually bring much better, if not immediately, at the end. Remember if tired on August 1, do not push. Also try not to trigger events.

This eclipse is in the house of home. I am guessing YOU are going to experience a major lifestyle change with perhaps a change with your work. This does not feel like it has to do with husband but with you. I know you would not be but don't be sassy to any police officers, authority figures or bosses or else you are likely to be brought done...very fast.
What is happening at work? what are you thinking about with the house? selling it?
re OTW ? - Dad has heart troubles. Husband has bad blood ie High cholesterol, triglycerides. Neither have ankle problems.
Lifestyle change- With husband's work the likely outcome is he will retire or get work with his company that is not in this area. So, a major lifestyle change either way. Aug. 1 is the date that he ends the assignment here. Unless an assignment came someplace else that was long term, it doesn't seem likely we'd want to actually move.
My work is somewhat stable but might change focus or could turn into more hours/week.
I think you said it well with 'The one thing we can count on is change.' Scary thought at times like this.
If you are right in your asusmption, the impact is not on your husband but on you, as he shows nothing in his chart.
I made a mistake - Husband has planets in Aq. (Jupiter) and Leo (Pluto) but they are not at the eclipse degrees.
I'll brace up for the changes. Luckily he deals with change better than I do. Thanks for the insight.
My moon is in 9 degrees Leo in the 5th house in Leo, and the focal point of a T square which involves 2nd house sun/merc in Taurus, and eighth house Saturn in Scorpio.
I have been staying in a place I don't want to live for 4 years, to help out my mother here and there. I am finally realizing my dream to move to Arizona and I have had a house approved there, and the contract should come in the mail any day for me to sign, and send the deposits. It will be available to me starting in Sept,
My mother has a few heart issues for two years and has a doctor appt in August for an echo.
The Aquarius side of the eclipse two weeks after the 1st will hit the cusp of my 6th house.

On a recent trip to Sedona I was looking around for rentals, and I "accidentally" stumbled across the perfect house for my situation. The house is in a great smallish (but not all that small) town about thirty miles SW from Sedona - its called Prescott.
Everything has gone very smoothly with the application, and it seems as if it was 'meant to be.' I have been here (FL) 3.5 years after coming to help mom with a broken ankle. (she is almost 80 now). Since then I have seen her through several other medical problems, broken hand, hosp. for pneumonia, etc.
She knows I seriously don't like FL, and recently she told me to go where I want. The thing is, I am not sure she believes that I'll really do it (as soon as my lease arrives and I pay the security deposit, she'll be told, and all this happens so close to the eclipse.
Her sister (Star, aged 84) and I have a close relationship, and she has made it very clear that she expects, almost demands, I stay in Florida to take care of mom. So this move is going to stir up all kinds of stuff with mom/star, who will both hate it.
I rechecked my moon and it is 10 Leo 41. The only thing I have in Aqu is chiron at 5 Aqu 25 (partile trine venus in the first house).
My mother is not being abandoned in the sense that my sister lives very close by, in orlando (we are in Tampa area), and she is an RN.
I think mom has gotten a little spoiled with me 20 minutes away to take care of her every need. Of course she doesn't want to make any changes in her living situation, but my sister will have to take over when I leave, and since she works all the time, she will have to take my mother to Orlando should she need in home care.
Here are a couple of additions to my post. Normally I would never sign contract (house) for a major change...on an eclipse, but I feel this was "meant to be," and for sure I will lose the house if I don't. Many people wanted to rent that house and I got is as a result of one "lucky break" after another. In other words, this move feels spiritually guided.
I'll also mention that all four of my angles are in approx 28.5 degrees of the mutable signs (rising sign is 28.5 Pisces). All of my houses contain two signs except for 3 & 9. My father is deceased, which happened when T pluto made its third pass over my DC back in 1971.
N Pluto rx rides the cusp of 6th house of aunts (?) applying. Jupiter 23 Cancer and Uranus 24 cancer straddle the cusp of my moon ruled fifth house.
My aunts husband of 60 some years died about a week ago, so my making this big move will probably hit them even harder. The timing is unfortunate, but what to do? It's a done deal as far as I am concerned.

Hello! Thanks so much for this post. I have to admit, I do fear this eclipse, but I am trying not to! This occurs two degrees off my sun. The February solar eclipse was directly on my Aquarius ascendant, and I met that with total optimism, but since then I lost my father and have been struggling with one out-of-left-field problem after the other. I have come to find my old Leo optimism a bit naive in this period, but I am trying to maintain it as best I can. I also have Uranus on the NN and Chiron and NN on the Ascendant right now. The eclipse will be in my 6th house. But as you say, expect the unexpected, so maybe I'll be surprised and it won't be so bad.
This hits my midheaven (8 Leo). Erk.
my natal saturn's at 9 leo... in tight t square to uranus and mercury (all within range of the eclipse degrees.)
so i think i'll avoid driving. and see what conversations come up. and try to paint....
i have an orientation for my new job.

When my ascendant was eclipsed by a lunar eclipse, I remember thinking that 6 month to that date, my father who was healthy would die. He did. To the date. It certainly does instigate an identity crisis.

He did break up on July 11 on the phone, then after some talk, he agreed to have a talk on resolving difference after he finishes his deadline on July 29th. He sounded distant and formal on his email on July 24 after not communicating for 10 days. I'm afraid he's going to insist on breaking up as it's close to Solar/lunar Eclipse.

To answer your question about dating: I am in a long term relationship (12 plus years), which is in a weird place, as a neighbor has started threatening my bf to pay a ton of money (someone slashed his tires) or else. Cops won't do anything about it. We are currently under this thug's deadline of one month to come up with the cash (not that we will). This happened as mars and saturn conjuncted (no kidding!) directly opposite my moon. My partner and I want to handle this differently, so it's been challenging.
Anyway, identity crisis is right! It really seems like outside forces are pushing a wake up call. With such heavy NN activity (Uranus on my NN and transiting NN on my ascendant), I don't feel like I can dismiss anything that happens right now even if I want to believe the guy is just blowing hot air... Any advice?

If you read my post anomymous, eclipses are New Moons and Full Moons intensified. They are about conjunctions and oppositions. They only work if they are an exact hit. 2 degrees off and it is even iffy. It has to be Leo or Aquarius planets from 7 to 11 degrees.
This relationship is over on his side, at least his words and mood indicate that. Don't use an eclipse for problems that have existed. My bet as you value the bond even if there is a break up, it is a transition. Do not fight him. Give him whatever he wants. If you do that, you might be surprised. People rarely ask for what they want. When you give what they ask to them, they back off if not immediately if not the near future. And you do not want to be with a man who doesn't want you.
Can you imagine, if he says; I want to break up. and You say: I understand. What will he think. Don't give your side or defend. he already knows all that. Just listen and hear him. "Yes, I hear you don't like me anymore...." Give people space and they don;t want it.,

the mercury/uranus/saturn t square can sometimes pop up as accidents... particularly weather related. i'm also pretty accident prone if i don't keep my head together and my emotions on an even keel. meditation and zen helps ;)
sometimes it's difficult conversations that require me to lay out or accept interpersonal boundaries in light of self expression needs.
mostly, though, i think i'm being pushed to stand up and say what i think without concerning myself with whether that alienates me from my peers.

The last set of eclipses this past February hit me pretty hard. Physically I felt out of it for a couple days. It was like having two car crashes in two weeks.
Astrologer's Shorthand: Sun in Aquarius combust Chiron in the tenth opposite Uranus in the fourth.
It was like having a Chiropractic adjustment. (Ha!) Having made big changes already in my life, I can't imagine what more the Universe is going to dish out, but its a creative Universe.

I also have my moon & saturn in leo at 21 degree & 28 degree respectively.
My cappy hubby has a leo ascendent
(21 degrees), he's looking at a possible job change which will mean we'll have to relocate. This would be a good thing, but a little scary, as I'm 6 mos. pregnant, I'd have to find a new job too.

ME: It can be that but there are so many other interpertations and I certainly would not look at that...for this eclipse. I would look at the areas that were eclipses not the other parts of the T> By the way that could also mean brilliant ideas sometimes hard to manifest. AND ETC ETC.

I am not living in fear, but I am surely alert -- I have a 9'45 Leo Ascendant! My boyfriend has a 24'52 Aquarius Sun inside my 7th.
Some have claimed that eclipses ar enot personal but I think there is obviously going to be an effect on my boyfriend and me on both the August 1 and August 16 eclipses.
I only wish I cold really see what. Instead I think I am planning to lay low and spend much time alone.
As you know, Danni, from reading the thread, that eclipses directly to the ascendant promises identity crisis. In one week from the day and the one month mark, you will have an idea of what went down, it will not go down the day of the eclipse...doubtful.
However you will not know the whole story and implications for 6 months/12 months.
What i can say is one of the ways I verify charts is when there is this type of hit, ask if events stirred up an identity crisis within the month/6 months/12 months that stir.
I believe 2 people in this thread...discussed that.
Worry less and understand that these events are to revitalize our lives and thoughts.

This eclipse then will involve communications , travel but the end results will get you to an 11 th house desire. This is loose because it has to be as I have not done your chart. and worked with you. For instance, what do you most want? what are your desires?
There could be a change in a friendship . or a new friend could come in. Or something you have wanted and is nearly there could blow out of your hand but in the long run, it works out better.
As far as the houses, some houses are more important than others in a chart. One way to determine that is when a total sign is engulfed in the house. like your 11 th. When studying the houses, you will see this mentioned. often astrologers will mentioned this in a reading...5th and 11 th house are key for you, though there could be other houses too.
interesting... i can see some potentials shifting in those directions already... but those parts of the chart are pretty heated up right now anyway, what with transits, so maybe the eclipse is only fuel to the fire?
or is it more a sign of a shift in the "clearing out the old" sense? or... well, i'm curious about the energetic dynamics of it.

It will not be the same. Remember timing. The status quo will not remain.
Look not at the eclipse date, ot now-but the dates of
Sept 1: you will have a "clue" of what might be taking place. Nov.1-an idea and think you know what is going to happen(wrong) and Feb 1, a define sense of direction but you might still be surprised by the end results at the year mark.

Hi Jacquie, What is the signficance of the 19 year eclipse cycle?
My Mars is 11 Acq and Venus 13 Acq in the 2nd H. I don't have any planets in the 8th H but the SE will be sextile my MH. Aries 4H, Taurus 5H, Libra 10H.
19 yrs ago my live-in bf and I were discussing marriage until I had an unplanned pregnancy, then discovered that he had been unfaithful. I had given his best friend's wife a job and discovered that she was finagling behind my back for my job. I dumped the guy, ended the pregnancy, and changed jobs to one that transferred me back to my hometown where I met a man to whom I got engaged to.
I broke off the engagement and didn't marry until last year, so a child or two or three at this time would be welcome. I have been working for the same company for 13years and plan to continue. With that past history in mind and the 4th, 5th, 10th H connection now, I am wondering if this eclipse portends another new home, pregnancy, job position. Not sure how correct that could be since the eclipse is supposed to be something unexpected.
So far the energies I have noticed are financial in nature. I under budgeted and my Husband will have to cover one of the household expenses I usually pick up.
Please rererad the blog about the areas of impact with an eclipses. I guess I was not clear.

Then we can go back to your question..about the eclipse cycle..it is similiar to other cycles. Not a repeat but a completion and a new beginning.
I think the 13 year cycle is far more significant financially that you mentioned..

Good morning Jacqueline!Happy Solar Eclipse to you! I am an August 4th baby just like Obama and I was born in 1970 at 9:38 am in Gainesville Florida. I have Mercury, Moon, Venus and Pluto in Virgo. I have Mars and The Sun in Leo. I am already having difficulty with my living situation and have to move soon. How will this wonderful Solar Eclipse affect me?
I'm curious to see how this eclipse will affect me. I'm only learning about astrology and am not to the point where I can really figure this out myself.
Let's see if I understand. I believe I have:
sun in leo at 20 degrees
mercury in leo at 2 degrees
ascendent in leo at 11 degrees
leo is in my 1st house
I also read that aquarius is important in this eclipse. I have:
moon in aquarius at 13 degrees
jupiter in aquarius at 5 degrees
aquarius is in my 7th house
Within the past week I have started going to the gym three times a week in the morning and have also decided to have a cosmetic procedure done that I have wanted for a long time. It's minor in other people's eyes, but significant to me.
This and other appearance concerns have suddenly seemed more important (although that comes and goes), but I wonder if this has anything to do with Leo in my 1st House?
I've also got some relationship drama going on. I feel torn between accepting what I have or taking the plunge into something new, albeit with a guy I dated in the past and who resurfaced this year after about 13 years.

the eclipse will happen (happened!!!) in my 9th house, conjunct (I guess) 16º leo sun (and 10º leo Vesta), opposed 3rd house Jupiter in 5º Aquarius and square 13º scorpio Rising sign. A change in what is Sacred (vesta) to me? A (re)definition
of my social values and ways to implement them (jupiter)? A - difficult - change (square 13º scorpio rising) to my appaerence, body? (Next month I'll cut my hair, I don't know if that would be a manifestation of the eclipse).
Jupiter rules 2nd house.
Sun rules 10th.
Scorpio rising in ruled by 6th house mars in aries (the 6th cusp is in aries also) and by 11th house Pluto.
Hummmm, so maybe because of the rulers - a change in my job/career/money making?
Also maybe all the planets impacted are too off orb.
However in my progressed chart:
Sagittarius is rising at 8º and Mars is at 8º Taurus in the 5th house (cusp: also Taurus).
So maybe my progressed chart is more impacted than my natal one. Maybe a new love may be coming my way...? (I'm So not looking for one...!). A stuborn guy I see, lol.
Also - positive changes in my appearence - eclipse trine sag. rising - due to... exercice, maybe? I'm trying to persuade myself to restart it...
Anyway - in September I intend to start level 2 of the course I started taking after the eclipse in the 3rd house in february. I'm learning something new - but it's not College. But is something that I intend to keep learning. So the effect of this eclipse (in my 9th house) may be a continuation of the one in february.
Plus I keep thinking: I have to take a Proper astrology course, I have to! Who knows, I might next year (but have no plans to do so - only a wish).

In fact I think 2 degrees is too big of an orb but I use it anyway. It really needs to be a smack hit. So go off and play now!!!!
Also..this is my view. Earth signs are practical and do look at the future. Fire signs erupt and are impulsive. So you might be making up for what you lack in the chart with all your futuring...

I am taking my birthtime of 8:35 am off the birth certificate. I know that leaves a bit of leeway. But its all I have to go on. the degree of the sun is 5 degrees Leo and my moon is 6 degrees Leo

We can safely say this past eclipse will not hit any planets etc . Nothing BUT the degree on the 12th and 6th house will be involved.
On the other hand, if I use different chart systems, the degrees could change.
Basically, changes in your daily life, allotment of personal time, and your work life.
The second eclipse does not appear to be in orb of anything....so relax.

I love your column but the way.
I have never really noticed an eclipse before, but the day before the eclipse, my Dad was told he'd need major heart surgery, the guy I was seeing and I got into a big fight (we've been seeing each other for three months, but he says he's not ready for a relationship) and things are up in the air (he's a Leo with a moon in Scorpio) and major changes at work for me!
I'm a Taurus (May 3, 1981) with a Libra rising.
What gives? Will I get a happily ever after, or are my loved ones getting eclipsed out of my life?
